Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV
Before when I was a kid, I was reading Epic stories just to be amazed and entertained. I love Epic stories as much as I love rock music and when I first heard of Coheed and Cambria, I was amazed. The band was doing a Rush kind of thing. The music was like Progressive-emo - the song writing was good and the frontman's voice isn't afraid to sound like some damn cowboy.
I've watched them on TV and their live performance isn't as entertaining as when you're listening. They lack stage performance skills that is very important when you are playing in front of a screaming audience.
The members of the band are Claudio Sanchez on vocals and guitars, Travis Stever on guitars, Mic Todd on bass and drummer Josh Eppard. They team up to create a cool music with story telling lyrics and neat texture. From the soaring instrumental overture "Keeping the Blade" effectively fading into the first full song "Always and Never" which seems to be a nice, many-miles-journey piece before thecall-to-arms salvo of harmonics, chugging riffs and foreboding strings.
I don't personally want to get everyone listen to this but this album is a must-buy for all listeners who want a new twist in the neverending growth of the rock genre.
This is a hit.
